Mathilde FONTANET holds a Master degree in Literature, a Translation diploma and a PhD in Translation Studies from the University of Geneva. After working as a freelance translator for several years, she went on to work at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) for 22 years, first as a translator, then as a human resources coordinator (2000-2002) in charge of recruitment, job classification, conflict management, project management and providing information to staff. From 2003 to 2013, she was head of the French unit of the translation team and was responsible for supervising colleagues, keeping them informed, distributing assignments, carrying out annual evaluations, managing change, recruitment, communicating with hierarchical superiors and customer service, negotiating deadlines and developing the team’s policies. At the University of Geneva, she has been a member of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting's Participatory Council since 2007 and a member of the University's Assembly since 2009. She teaches practical translation seminars, translation and revision seminars, and technical and scientific translation courses.
