Marie-Hélène GIRARD holds a degree (2009) and Master of Arts (2011) in Translation from the University of Montréal as well as a certificate in Spanish (2005) from the University of Québec in Montréal. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Geneva in 2019 under the supervision of Prof. Jean-Claude Gémar and Prof. Fernando Prieto Ramos. Her thesis and research focuses on the jurilinguistic dimensions involved in integrating international criminal law into national systems. Prior to joining McGill, she worked as a lecturer at the University of Montréal (legal translation), as a research assistant at the University of Geneva and as a subject matter expert at the University McGill. She has also been working as a translator since 2009. She is a certified translator of the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ) and a member of the Canadian Association for Translation Studies (CAT).
