Aurélien Riondel holds a postdoc position at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting (FTI) of the University of Geneva, where he initially earned a BA in History and Film Studies, a BA in Multilingual Communication, and an MA in Translation. After working for a few years as a professional translator, he returned to academia to carry out a PhD in Translation Studies. His thesis addresses the social dimension of revision (the verification of a translation) and, more broadly, deals with how revision is practiced and perceived. It is entitled: “Le grand écart de la révision. Étude par entretien des politiques de révision et des relations traducteurs-réviseurs”. His research interests include revision, didactics, research methodology, translation policies, institutional translation and the language industry.
Outside of his academic activities, he also works as a freelance translator. He is a certified member of ASTTI, the main Swiss professional association in the field, and translates for institutional clients and associations, mostly from German to French.
Working languages: French, German, Spanish, English.
