“Legal and institutional translation: Functions, processes, competences” gathers a selection of research presented at the Transius Conference 2018, as well as key findings from the LETRINT project. This issue of Target - International Journal of Translation Studies (33:2) (guest-edited by Prof. Fernando PRIETO RAMOS) is the first ever of the indexed journal devoted to legal and institutional translation. It captures some of the latest developments in the field, with a special focus on legal translator competence, legal translation processes, quality assurance and sociological aspects of the profession in institutional settings in particular.
