Valérie Dullion is an associate professor in the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Geneva. She specialises in legal and institutional translation, as well as the history of translation (ORCID 0000-0003-2787-9273). Her current research looks at historical processes of institutionalisation and professionalisation, with a particular focus on Switzerland in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and a comparative perspective. Her recent publications include a chapter on Bern in the edited volume Translating in Town: Local Translation Policies During the European 19th Century (ed. D’hulst & Koskinen, Bloomsbury, 2020), and an article entitled “When was Co-drafting ‘Invented’? On History and Concepts in Legal Translation Studies” (Perspectives 31 (6), 2022). She is a co-director of the project “Places of Translation: A Comparative Study of the Emergence of Local Translation Policies in Belgium and Switzerland (1830/1848-1918)”. She co-founded the Transius Centre in 2012 and is on the executive board of the Translation Studies journal Parallèles.

Reine Meylaerts is a full professor and currently (2021-2025) the vice rector of Social Sciences and Humanities at KU Leuven. Her research interests include translation policy for minorities, intercultural mediation and transfer in multilingual cultures, past and present. She has written or edited about 160 articles, book chapters and books on these topics (ORCID 0000-0002-8088-1519). She has been a keynote speaker/invited expert at around 40 international conferences/expert workshops and has given lectures at Harvard University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Beihang University, Copenhagen University, Universidade Estadual de Santa Cruz (Brazil) and Abu Dis University, among others. She has coordinated national and international research projects and supervised more than 20 doctoral students. She is a co-director of the project “Places of Translation: A Comparative Study of the Emergence of Local Translation Policies in Belgium and Switzerland (1830/1848-1918)”.

Estelle Gross holds a MA in Specialised Translation, with a focus on translation studies from the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Geneva. Her master’s thesis focused on polysystem theory and pseudotranslation, illustrated with a case study from the 20th century: Boris Vian’s J’irai cracher sur vos tombes. For her doctoral research she chose to expand her interest in history. Her doctoral research, which is part of the “Places of Translation” project, is supervised by Prof. Valérie Dullion (University of Geneva) and Prof. Reine Meylaerts (KU Leuven), under a double degree agreement. She is affiliated to the Transius Centre in Geneva, and her research is hosted by the Research Group on Translation and Intercultural Transfer at KU Leuven, where she spent a year as a visiting researcher from September 2023 to September 2024.

Judit (ORCID 0000-0002-6053-1642) holds a Bachelor’s and a Master's degree in French and German Literature and Linguistics from KU Leuven.  She specialised in George Sand studies. In 2021 and 2022 she spent two semesters abroad studying at the University of Vienna and at Sorbonne University in Paris.  An article based on her bachelor paper was published in Cahiers de George Sand (n°44) in 2022. For her master’s paper, she was awarded the KU Leuven prize for French literature. In line with her interest in the “long 19th century” and the impact of language and the evolving society on language and translation policy, she was drawn to the field of Translation Studies and in particular to the "Places of Translation" project. In October 2022, she started a PhD supervised by Prof. Reinhilde Meylaerts (KU Leuven), co-supervised by Prof. Valérie Dullion (UNIGE) and funded by the FWO.
