PhD Student

Olena SAMSONOVA holds a degree (2011) in Philology from the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in Ukraine and a Master of Arts (2012) in Legal Linguistics from the Riga Graduate School of Law in Latvia. Her research interests are legal translation, legislative drafting, cognitive linguistics, comparative legal linguistics and comparative law. She is currently working on her doctoral thesis in the University of Geneva under the supervision of Prof. Fernando Prieto Ramos. Her thesis focuses on legal concepts and their terms within the newly transposed EU law as legal transplants, exploring transplantation techniques and strategies. She has completed an internship in the Parliament of Ukraine and currently holds the position of senior project manager in a translation company in Barcelona.
